Learning Management Systems (LMS)

What is an LMS?

An LMS is what powers an online eLearning course. It’s the structure that brings together all the written content, videos, images and more, to create a rich educational experience.

Research and choose a Learning Platform.

Consider these plus any others you like…

·        Learndash (for WordPress sites) https://www.learndash.com/

·        Thinkific https://www.thinkific.com/

·        Teachable https://www.teachable.com/

Once you choose a Platform, you can begin exporting your Course content.

·        Create a Course Banner. Consider canva.com. (dimensions approximately 800×300)

·        Upload your text to your Learning Platform for each lesson

·        To upload your Videos from Vimeo to your chosen Learning Platform:

Find the video you want to transfer to your website from Vimeo. At the top of the page, click the black ‘Share’ button. Privacy should be set to ‘Unlisted.’ Scroll down and click ‘Copy Link.’ Paste the code into the appropriate lesson on your learning platform.

To give your students permission to download your videos, copy the private link for each video (not the embed code), and paste it as a link under your video. Test each one to make sure it works properly.

Integration & Flow

There are basically 3 types of learning styles, and this is how each one receives and retains information best. Taking this into account, go through each of your modules to make sure you include a mix of audio, visual and ‘doing’ exercises.

WRITING PROMPTS

·        How does the FLOW of your entire course feel? Are instructions easy to follow? Does one thing lead to the next in a way that is easy to understand?

·        Do your videos work properly?

·        Are each of the lessons fairly well balanced in terms of the amount of information you’re presenting?

·        Does your course content feel too full, too sparse, or just right? You can adjust the number of lessons if needed.

·        If too sparse, consider providing more ‘juice’ with inquiries, quotes, writing prompts

·        Do you have a nice balance of text and visuals? Remember, most people are highly responsive to visuals 🙂

·        Assess your aesthetics     does the overall presentation feel beautiful and pleasing?

·        If grammar and spelling isn’t your strength, ask someone to edit for you. This will elevate the overall quality of your offering.

·        Would YOU be inspired to take your course?

·        How does it feel on a Soul level? Does it feel like you’ve honored the intent of your Vision?

This is the time to make any changes to bring it into alignment. Trust your Intuition.
